About INTELSAW SYSTEMS
The intelligent situational awareness system for improvised explosive devices detection & disposal (INTELSAW Systems) provides the situational awareness (SAW) about a risk caused by the improvised explosive devices (IED).
The intelligent situational awareness system for improvised explosive devices detection and disposal (INTELSAW IED Systems) provides the situational awareness (SAW) about a risk caused by the improvised explosive devices (IED). The seed of the INTELSAW IED Systems are the contribution to MA (mine action) made by developing and implementing the Advanced Intelligence Decision Support System for Non-Technical Survey (NTS), based on the airborne data acquisition, knowledge formalization, contextual data acquisition, terrain analysis, multi criteria data fusion and on providing the risk assessment maps for land release. The used aerial platforms were helicopters and unmanned aerial systems (UAS), while sensors were multispectral, longwave infrared, very high-resolution cameras and hyperspectral sensors (line scanner, full frame). The aerial platforms for INTELSAW Systems are UAS, they will be selected from market and main task will be integration of the acquired equipment and not the development.
The reconnaissance in the INTELSAW Systems is based on the non-linear junction detector (NL JD), which is an active harmonic radar, hyperspectral (HS), long wave infrared (LWIR) and very high resolution visible (VHRVIS) sensors on unmanned aerial system (UAS), optionally on remotely controlled ground vehicle. The variability of IEDs is enormous and continually grows, therefore INTELSAW Systems provides the functionality for permanent advancement based on the historical and on the recent operational and empirical data. Very important functionality of the system is situational, spatial simulation of IED distribution, which is aimed for the cognitive training for IEDD and other users and for operational research. Some of used technical solutions are complex, therefore INTELSAW Systems provides trialability (the extent to which solution can be tested on a trial basis) and observability (the extent to which the results of using the system can be clearly observed). First INTELSAW IED System will be ready for trials, testing, evaluation, operational validation and demonstration after 18 months, for services after 24 months.
Aims of INTELSAW systems
- Non-Technical Survey, Targeted Survey in the frames of humanitarian IEDD, of the suspected hazardous area, confirmed hazardous area, contaminated by IEDs, landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO).
- Surveillance and monitoring of the corridor kinds of objects (oil and gas pipeline, high tension electricity lines, land border).
- Reconnaissance and intelligence and SAW support in the real time for civil ground vehicles convoys in post conflict environment.
